Factory Sat Nav - 1Z0 035 194 A

Featured Replies

Hi All. This is my first post, so please be gentle.

Just purchased a 2003 Superb Comfort TDi 130 in Nightfire Blue. I'm used to the French flair for design, so the styling leaves a lot to be desired! but everything seems well screwed together.

What I need to know is, I've got the chance to buy a Skoda Factory Sat Nav Media Centre, part number 1Z0 035 194 A. Can I just remove my standard fits stereo and the storage draw below it, fit this new unit, and hey presto! it will work. Or is it going to need to be coded in by a dealer?

Oviously the part isn't cheap, so I want to be certain of it fitting before I buy it.

Any help very gratefully received.

Thanks in advance,

Jon (smokeysmoo) :)

This ought to give you an idea of what is required for an Octavia.

Octavia-vRS.com - MFD Install Guide

I would think the Superb would also need the Plug and Play lead if it had never been fitted with Nav.

It would need coding too. VAG-COM or a dealer could do it.

Welcome

You should be able to wire the sat nav unit in with the help of some additional wiring. Coding may be required, but anyone with a copy of VAGCOM should be able to do this for you.

There's some info here: Octavia-vRS.com - MFD Install Guide , although it is geared towards the Octavia rather than the Superb. You may also want to contact stopan1j (John) who has done an MFD into his Superb before.

Damn you Stu

I know the feeling, Ross normally manages to beat me.

Thanks a lot fellas. Quite a lot of info to look through. Initial thoughts are that it looks pretty tricky, all those codes etc! (I am not technically minded). Still, I'll have a butchers a see what I can sort out.

Thanks again.

Not sure what you're paying for it, but you can get 'em on ebay for around

Thanks Makefish. I am actually looking on Ebay for one, but I have asked Ebay seller navi555 about this unit;

eBay.co.uk: sat nav SKODA VW NAVIGATION SYSTEM RNS E MFD2 OKTAVIA (item 200126030386 end time 11-Jul-07 21:10:41 BST)

with a view to fitting it in my 2003 Superb Comfort, but he simply said it would not fit? So I'm not sure now what to do.

In an ideal world I'd really love someone who knows their stuff to tell me exactly what model sat nav would fit, and if I'd need any extra wiring, ie: plug and play loom etc. Hopefully someone will come good. There is certainly enough people on here bursting with technical information.

Might actually pop into the mighty Parkside Garage tomorrow and ask their advice.

Thanks again for all the great info.

That won't fit, you need an MFD not an MFD2.

Prety sure you'll need a Plug and Play.

Also, from what I gather, if you install the satnav, you will loose the MAXIDOT (display between rev counter and speedo) readings for radio station etc, and you won't get the directions up on the maxidot like the elegance does.

For this reason, i haven't done the change.

I don't see why you would lose MaxiDot, I understand that without additional wiring you may not have the Navigation display but the Navigation unit works fine without it.

Right, I'm starting to get my head around this a bit more. So I definately need an MFD unit. VRStu, when you say I'll probably need Plug & Play, do you mean a loom, and any ideas on the best source to get one?

I'm in communication with Navshop-24 on Ebay. He says I need the unit with rounded corners, guess that's the MFD then? Says he has one,

When you buy these MFD's you normally get a Plug and Play loom and a GPS antenna. THat is all you need.

Don't worry about asking for rounded corners and all that cr@p, you simply want a Skoda MFD.

Shop around and take your time. Some of the sellers don't accpet paypal so you need to factor in the risk and the extra cost of a bank transfer.

Cheers Fellas. Stupid question, but what colour illumination does the Skoda MFD have? and do the equivalent VW and Ford MFD's have the same colour illumination?

Green on the Skoda, Red on the VW and not sure on Ford.

Also get the splash screen for which ever one you choose.

If you do find a seller that does'nt take Paypal don't be too wary, I've bought two now from sellers in Lithuania and both have been fine to deal with although it is a bit of a pain to organise a bank transfer and will cost the best part of

Well Guys. I decided to bite the bullet, bought this MFD off Ebay,

VW MFD NAVIGATION SAT NAV GOLF PASSAT MK4 CD UK "G" on eBay Navigation GPS, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles. This seller is reported as being ok ref: VRStu's link;

The guys throwing in the plug and play lead as well, so I guess that's fair enough.

I'll take some pics of the install for the benefit of any future Superb virgins!

A 1000 thanks for all the replies, but special thanks to Quinten for all the extra help and advice.

Keep up the great work fellas.

Good luck with the install.
