vrs epc light

Featured Replies

hi i have a 51 plate octavia i keep getting the epc light come on the dash fault code 467f (accelerator position sender 1/2-g79+g185 implausible signal) now some times this will happen every day or go a few days without coming back on i have changed the throttle pedal that seemed to cure it for a week then it happened again so i brought a seconghand throttle body cleaned it up put that on same again worked for a couple of days the light back on car will drive fine i get like a surge then the light comes on and i loss turbo and throttle responce any ideas before i go shelling out 300 pound on a brand new throttle body ive checked wiring also that all appears to be fine any ideas

not sure how significant it may be, but a friend of mine had similar symptoms, EPC light on and rough running on his Leon - turned out the cause was a dicky coilpack on it's way out. This same scenario has happened not once but twice, showing EPC light both times. Now I don't know what the link is between coilpacks and EPC light, except possibly electrical interference maybe creating false EPC signals, but after replacing all coilpacks now, it hasn't re-occured.. it may be worthy of consideration.

Would seem as both components have been changed and assuming throttle body alignment has been carried out with VAG COM that only the wiring is left to be faulty.

How do you check this b4 it goes in again?

these are my probs sorry to hijack

After reading this post it all sounds familiar last year. I had problems with my vrs after bout a week at the dealers they norrowed it down to the throttle body, so i had a new one fitted. ouch.

All fine up to a couple of weeks ago problems again engine revs up & down on tick over and coughin in between Oh and with all three light on!! . Went back to dealers on the vag com again , with 2 many fault codes to narrow it down. All cleared gone for a drive around to see if anythings happens but nothing. All fine for a few days bingo lights on again back on the machine again. So my car has been on the machine bout 6-8 times now in a month tryin to find out what the running problems are each time a get a codes of 16605 , 17579, 17967, 17972, 17705 , 16514.

After all the problems they are goin to try a new throttle body under parts warranty hope it is as it could start all over again after a few months.

By the way is yours all fixed?

Guy
