Octavia vRS Video

Featured Replies

Ive posted a couple of vids on you tube and thought id put them on here too.

One video shows me putting my foot down in 6th at 80mph and also doing max speed (156mph according to TomTom)

The second video shows a standing start run all the way to 140mph according to Satnav in under 45 Seconds then after a few bends and a tunnel pushing on to a top speed again of 156mph (According to TomTom just over 160mph on speedo). This was achieved on about 6/7 miles of clear autobahn:thumbup:

i apologise for the not very good quality but i had to strap my mobile to my hand to do this so that i could keep both hands on the wheel.:P

Also the wheel spin in the clip is due to the fact i turned of the traction control

Before anyone says anything i want to make a couple of things clear.

1. This is being done on the Autobahn here in Germany and not on UK roads.

2. Ive been trained to drive at high speeds and at no point did i endanger anyone other than myself

3. I am not trying to glamourise speeding in way shape or form. I am just using this as a kind of video diary of my car as i am going to mod it and want to document the gains.

4. Also this is intended as a reference to someone who wants to see the power of a standard car

I will try and get a better quality video camera to do this again with but in the mean time please enjoy:thumbup:

Carl:thumbup:

NOTE: NEITHER I NOR BRISKODA CONDONE SPEEDING. PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE ABOVE THE STATED SPEED LIMIT FOR THE ROAD YOU ARE ON AS IT IS ILLEGAL

Quick question, did you turn the traction control on or did it turn itself back on as you went over 130 mph?

Nice video, although perhaps a mate should hold the camera next time.

I'm glad i'm not paying your fuel bill, you can actually see the gauge dropping.

One point I have to make, what ARE you listening to on the radio/CD? a Vmax should be done with some thrash metal blaring away :speaker: :headbang: :speaker:

Was the Merc CLS trying it on towards the end?? :D

i turned it back on

gonna get a mate with a decent cam to comenext time. I was on way back from a mates saw that the A-Bahn was clear so thought id make the vid

I've got no sound on this computer so I don't know what he had playing, but I think Metallica Fuel would have been appropriate.

Most excellent! I need to get out in my car! I got it friday and haven't had the chance to use it yet - its only gone from the dealership to home - 14 miles! Our newborn (1 week old) son and 4 year old have simply taken all of the spare time up so far! Your video is the first time I've seen the dash lit up. I'm going out in it tomorrow no matter what!

I get my fuel tax free so its ok:D

The music is better if its ordinary as it keeps you calm and you dont get mad. Thrash metal tends to make you drive more aggressively

The merc CLS was trying it on but it was a CLS 320CDi and i was already close to full whack when he decided to play. to be fair though when i had to slow down he caught up then he stayed with me after that

I wouldnt recommend going for top speed with only 14 miles on the car. Ive got nearly 4K on mine id let it loosen up a bit first:thumbup:

I agree about the music, quiet or none is probably better, only pulling yer chain.

If the Merc was a CLS 65 it would have been a more even race :D

Good vid though, can't wait for the "HD" version

Any speed would be good! Having it sat in my garage and no proper time to go out in it (I had to watch the F1 today) is killing me!

Tomorrow it gets some mild stick! Not 140 but a bit of fun on the twisty bits for an hour or so around where I live should be good for a start.

Nice vids....

It would be nice to see some more vids on the forum.

If it had been a CLS 65 id have had a permanent view of his rear end until he disappeared:rofl:

I agree but as a lot of people are in the UK they cant really go incriminating themselves by showing them flying along UK roads at illegal speeds

Trackday Vids would be good though

I know, its such a shame :(

2. Ive been trained to drive at high speeds and at no point did i endanger anyone other than myself

So if any of those cars you passed at high speed had pulled out in front of you it would have all been OK would it?

IMO anyone on that road at that time that you passed was in endangered.

That makes me look forward to my Leon TFSI arriving even more, it looks really rather fast!

If anyone had pulled out on me that i passed then they would have been driving dangerously as they had no reason to pull out. Plus Germans are quite aware on the autobahn as people often drive at those speeds on it. I also had my headlights and front foglights on and it was daylight so its not as if they couldn't have seen me

But i take your point

With the speed at which you were approaching (closing speed circa 70mph??) it is entirely feasible that any of the cars you passed wouldn't have seen you until you actually passed them.

People driving on motorways (or anywhere else for that matter) often do things like pull out for no apparent reason, - in my experience it's best to treat all other drivers like idiots.

Its a good point raised and answered, but I have to admit that if I had an autobahn, I'd have a go at getting the VMax out of my car without a doubt.

I noticed people pulled out of the way sharpish and didn't doss around in the outside lane like on UK motorways.

If it's legal to do those speeds then people will be well aware of high speed vehicles. Not like the divs you get over here :thumbdwn:

And the traffic was very light so as you say, no one had the need to pull into your lane.

Since when did this thread want to become a discussion about motorway safety?

He's clearly stated that it was safe and legal to perform those speeds. There are too many "do-gooders" on this site.

I think the video is a good reference point for anyone wanting to compare a standard car with theirs should they decide to tune it.

Cheers harry

was gonna put something like that up but you beat me to it:thumbup:

Well, I can bang on about road safety issues all day, taking the high moral ground, but I'm no angel. I find it so hard to keep my foot away from the pedal sometimes. I would struggle to resist temptation if in Germany, I know I would. Would love a go on a track one day.....not sure about the choice of music though Mater. This for me is the real crime here! :)

Perhaps we should start a thread on what track is most 'inspirational' whilst driving a vRS.

At the moment I am strangely drawn to LCD Soundsystem's 'I'm losing my edge' and that new Jazzy Jeff album.

As i said earlier if you are going to drive at that speed then the last thing you want is some sort of music banging away making you drive aggressively.

Anyhow whats wrong with the music, Snow Patrol, Bon Jovi, Robbie Williams, U2 all very good artists. Good job i didnt do it 15 mins earlier i had my classical disc in:rofl:

Nothing wrong with it, only pulling your leg!

Wouldn't say I was a Bon Jovi fan though!

Classical if fine, have been listening to alot of this since my son was born.

He incidently, seems unimpressed with the vRS and fails to understand the it can all be his one day. Now what lad wouldn't be proud to own an eighteen year old Skoda with just a few careful polishes?!
