That car is a credit to you, and I think something that sets it apart is that lovely interior colour, I wanted it myself but it's not good for a cab.

Thanks for your comments mate but I completely agree with you on the interior....it would be a nightmate but luckily it's only me that is ever in the 'cab'.......

Hi

I really like your car but you said you "shortened my current aerial to make it stubby, still retianing good radio reception."

Is it simply a case of cutting it or is there more to it?

Cheers

That's all I did mate.....shortened it and then plastic moulded the top of it shut.....works fine and looks 100% better IMO!!

Thanks for your comment mate!!

Hi

Could you take a close up picture of the ariel? I know this sounds strange but my father-in-law has a people carrier and he has to take his ariel off to get the car in and out of the garage. If he likes the look of it (hence the picture) then this might save him a lot of trouble.

Cheers

Wicked car buddy! Quick question. Where did you buy the Czech plates. There a real nice touch.

Is the third picture down not close enough?!?!?

Loving the number plates Baker21, real nice touch. Are they the same as I've seen at Dubmeister - Where performance meets style!? Or if not, where did you get them and have you had any problems with PC Plod?

While I'm at it, I will be fitting a VW MFD in my Superb this coming weekend, what is involved in connecting up the PS2?, as that would be a great addition to the car. Also, have you got a TV tuner installed as well? and again, what would I need to set that up. Sorry if it all seems obvious, but I'm really not techincally minded, and had to throw myself on the grace of you guys to get the information to give me the confidence to buy an MFD in the first place!

Anyway, serious congrats on your fine vehicle Sir! It's a real credit to you, and just shows that you don't have to be a VRs monkey to have a truly fine looking Skoda! :)

You are correct in your assumption that I bought then from Dubmeister, cracking service and I am very happy with the plates.....as for getting pulled.....only once has PC Plod commented and that was when I had called them out to the scene of an accident.....otherwise, 'touchwood' nothing!!

When fitting a MFD to the Superb you must also realise that you will loose your FIS cluster display in the dash and also your steering wheels controls as all the vehicle wiring harnesses are not fitted to any Superb that isn't specc'd with Sat Nav as standard.

Wiring in a PS2 is simple and all you need is a DC power supply and a VW / Audi / Skoda Multimedia Interface Box...wire them all in and plug your PS2 in and your done.

As for the TV Tuner, I looked into this a lot but I couldn't justify spending around

I still have your PM mate along with a few others and I am just waiting to see if I can source some sets and then I will be in touch but things are not moving as quickly as I would have liked.

If your after a DX Sat Nav unit then I sourced mine off Ebay....I had bought and sold around 5 MFD unit's previous to this, when I owned the Bora, so I managed to pick mine up for

I've ordered a VW MFD from Ebay seller, s.gifdj.kolia. He came up on VRStu's Octy MFD fitting link as a seller who had been used and was reported to be ok. He seems to be a bit pricier than the sellers in Lithuania, but personally I was happy with that, I gues it makes me feel a bit safer! Apologies to any Lithuania's out there! Nothing personal, but I think we all know someone who has been 'shafted' on Ebay by now, so you just put in as many safeguards as possible don't you?

Anyway, my MFD is expected tomorrow, (Friday 20th July), and I will be posting up before and after photo's of the install, and will of course post up a full report for everyone's benefit.

:)

I assume that you have bought a Skoda DX unit and not a VW MFD unit, granted they are the same but one illuminates green and the other red?!?!

Yeah, that seller sells them both Baker. :)

If it goes well for you smokey then I may order one from him too for Patsy!

Fair enough.....

So easy to fit.....30 minute job!!

I actually went for the VW unit, I was made aware of the illumination colour, but I couldn't wait for a Skoda unit to come up. Also the VW unit I got is the 'G' model, which I am informed includes the spell function. Kind of like predictive text, which is how I have interpretted what I've been told by Quentin. For the record, if you buy one of these of dj.kolia, be sure to ask for a deal on a plug and play lead as htey don't come with one. He's included one for a tenner on top of the MFD, which I figured was fair enough.

VW unit.....going to be like a party inside your Superb then with the different colours!!!

I assume that you also realise that there are A and B versions of the DX unit, which are the same as the D and G versions on the MFD meaning the predictive text you are referring too is also available.

I have a DX B version and have what your after spec wise.........

The problem I had was that after posting up for info about MFD's, I got so bombarded with information, (I'm not complaining at all!), but when your not a technical sort of guy, it gets a bit baffling. In the end, and following the advice of others, I decided to go for the VW unit as it was readily available, but I must admit I was not aware of the A & B versions of the DX unit until now.

My unit has arrived today, so my plan is to get it fitted, and then if the 'disco' effect starts to get on my *its, I'll look out for a Skoda unit, pick one up as and when, and then Ebay my VW unit.

To Baker21, any tips on my impending install? Any little barsteward clips to look for etc? Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks again to everyone for their help and advice. We don't seem to have a before and after install guide, like StuVRs's install guide for his Octy. Granted they will be very similar, but I'm going to take before and after photo's specifically for the Superb.

I assume that you have a Symphony unit and drawer in your Superb currently.....if so remove those and then you will be able to see everything in the dashboard pretty much....it's also a good idea to remove the main trim piece around the audio hole, climate control and variosu switches to stop it from getting scratched when fitting the Sat Nav!!

I would remove the glovebox and mount the GPS aerial on the dashboard cross member, which is metal, plug your Sat Nav in, check it all works and you can see satalites and then simply push it all back into location....simple!!

Apart from that there isn't much too it....I am sure you will have no problems when you remove the current audio units.....good luck!!

Well in the next few weeks or so I'll be after an MFD G unit - so I'd happily buy the Skoda one and do the swap :)
