Hi guys, not sure if this deserves a post in its own right but if someone is ordering and expecting silver roof bars as per the 2008 spec model change list that was recently posted; I didnt want them to be dissapointed when the car turned up with black roof bars!

I was assured originally by the dealer they would be silver as standard now (they made a call to SUK) BUT after talking with SUK today myself; this is the score:

Bar colour can be specified by the dealer when ordering; either black or silver.

If no colour is stated then black is the factory fit default!

My dealer is now making another call to SUK to check my order!

Hope this helps clarify the situation as I know its come up on another thread.

Interesting, I'm highly likely to be ordering a vRS estate in the near future...

Do you know if you can delete the roof bars - i.e. request not to have them??

Cool, I'll check it out with the dealer - who were pretty helpful today when I showed my nose for the first time to book a test drive.

Generally I buy estates to be able to fit stuff like mountain bikes inside them, and don't want roof bars. My current car (a cherished 156 GTA sportwagon, which will remain - the Octavia will be our family car/my wife's car) doesn't have them and I don't like the look of them. Alfa are the other way around to most marques - their estates generally have no bars unless you order them as an option!

There were no vRS estates available for a test drive, but the saloon has the same wheelbase/length and damn near the same weight so I'm assuming they drive pretty similarly. Given the similar size/weight I'm leaning heavily towards the estate, I prefer the looks to, though it's her decision ultimately!

Breaking news: Dealer has just phoned me to say Skoda UK are saying that to have silver roof bars is a cost option!

I give up!

Apparently emails are flying back and forth to tht e Czech republic to resolve this as no one seems to be able to offer the definitive answer

Looks like the silver spray paint is coming out then :P

Black is still default AFAIK (except Scout, where they are standard)
