Air Vent Issues - HELP!! :)

Featured Replies

Morning all....

I noticed at the weekend that the vertical fins on all the front air vents are all really loose and when under full blast of the airco, they do not hold the selected position, but move under the pressure of the air either to to the left of right, which is rather annoying and not quite what they are supposed to do I suspect!!

So, does anyone else have this problem or found a cure if you did have the problem? (Other than replacing them under warranty, which really will be a last resort - it'll be two weeks in advance to book it in and probably a week off the road!!).

Num

I have not heard of this problem before and I would suggest getting them replaced as they shouldn't be like that!!

I don't know if the vents fit into the dash the same as they do on the Fabia, but if so you can remove them like this. Once the vent units are out of the dash, they can be disassembled (they just clip together - again presuming the principle's the same as on the Fabia!) and then if anything's come loose, you should be able to put it back where it belongs. If something's broken, it's a warranty job of course, so if you do try this make sure you don't do anything you can't undo before you take it to the dealer!:D

I agree mate - probably will have to, but I was just trying to avoid a trip to the dealer!

Hmmmm... thanks mate.... probably a little more complicated as they are illuminated and have a metallic surround, both of which I'd be sure to bu@@er-up! The odd thing is, there isn't anything that has come "loose" as such, there just isn't enough resistence to hold the vanes in place, and all four are the same. The two in the rear of the centre console are both fine.

If all four of the dash mounted vents are like that I would certainly raise it with the dealer, compare it to another one on their forecourt to prove it.

Most people's are..............LMAO!!

hahahaha, I had the pleasure of taking my middle vents off last night. I thought I would be clever and try and fix mine myself. The horizantal bars on mine were all loose, so I popped it out, very straightforward, until you realise the hazard warning switch in the middle is connected. After trying to fix it all, I gave up and went to put it back together. The connection to the hazard switch will not fit between the vents so you have to try and slide it over the cables and then try and attatch it, with no room. I gave up, removed the drivers side middle vent while I try and repair it and put the rest back in, leaving a hole where the vent should be. Meant I could put my fingers through and reconnect the switch.

new vent needed to remove lever the bottom out first

As a point dealers have been told if vent damage looks like it has been done by either an air freshener or an accessory such a phone/PDA holder they are not to change it under warranty.

And I would agree with that to be honest.....IMHO Air Freshners, PDA and Phone cradles, etc make the car look a right mess......

Fortunately, no such marks on the horizontal blades, so I should be OK.
