Windscreen Misting Up.

Featured Replies

Whenever it's wet/it rains (and that's been a lot lately) I need to use the Air-con to clear the glass. Is this normal? I thought most cars could manage just using the blowers???

I've checked for obvious leaks and also that the button that re-circulates air around the car isn't on.

Any ideas?

This is quite normal BUT very annoying. Its the way it was built. If you keep it on re-circulation over night, I found that that helped. Good luck

How can you keep it on recirc overnight?

Put it on recirc, turn the ignition off. :D

Just run the air-con all the time.

I've heard that turning the dials to the 'foot' position when parked helps too.

Yep mine does this. Annoying but clears v quick if u put air con on. Just one of those things I think.

Apparently its very common on VAG cars , I find its worse when you have a passenger , especially if your clothes have got wet in the rain before you get into the car. None of the Mitsubishis I've had with AC have ever had this problem!

Thanks all.

I guess It's something I'll have to live with. Very annoying though!

I thought the flap defaulted to closed anyhow.

I thought the flap defaulted to closed anyhow.

When I was removing leaves from my fan, I removed the glovebox to find the flap closed as expected. I turned on the ignition, opened the flap (recirc set to on) and turned the ignition off again. That way I could guarantee I wouldn't mince my fingers with the fan whilst I put my arm up the flap and cleaned it out.

what i thought was weird is that when my window clouds up, it starts to get the splodges where it starts to spread from......

BUT, the mist is on the outside!! a quick sweep of the wipers and its away! spooky!
