Re-Map recommendations - Berkshire area

Featured Replies

Hi guys, a while since I've been here, hi to all the old-guard that I saw at the meet in Basingstoke :)

Anyway, a bit of advice if thats ok... I have come into a small amount of cash and am looking into a re-map finally.

I am open to options but would like to find a fairly local outfit that can also look into induction and exhaust mods at the same time as doing a map.

Jabba was all the rage when I last lurked here, if there is any competitor I should consider I'd be very interested to know of alternatives.

Cheers,

Jon

Jabba are still worth the trip

Angel came out to my work place in Basingstoke and mapped it there. Recommended and saves the pennies a bit at

Thanks everyone :)

Do you guys think it's worth the effort to go for a full IC kit or just a new filter and Bailey DV before remapping ?

(unfortunatly my budget doesn't stretch to the exhaust system although I did consider it)

We are having another meet in August near Newbury (see link in sig), you'd be welcome to join us again and there will be plently of people to chat with about what you can do to your car or there is a RR Day this weekend (again see link in sig) which you'd be welcome to attend. Depends on whether you can keep the cash in your pocket for that long ;)

just my 2p but i'd recommend...

green cotton filter, bailey/forge dump valve and remap. then do some handling mods, rear arb, new bushes, dogbone etc. or do those the other way around!

then when you have more cash... ic, exhaust system

Thanks Makefish, I've signed up for the Newbury meet :)

The RR session will have to wait, unfortunatly I'm moving this weekend :S

I will have to compare notes at the meet... I certainly remember one 250bhp Octy from the last meet with fondness :D

Lots of options to consider.. I like the roadmap you've put there exFiesta .. I guess thats what you did yourself ? .. What sort of performance figures did you achieve at the first stage ?

It's not quite what I did myself :) It's what I would do now, if I did it again!

My first mod was a bailey dv, then I think it was uprated brake discs and pads. Followed by a Jabba remap to 226Bhp (can't remember the torque, in the 220 lb/ft's i think) and an eibach anti-rollbar. Swiftly follwed by Audi S3 upper and lower front strut braces, and later a full milltek exhaust (200CEL cat) manifold back.

I toyed with a carbonio CAI for a while (several thousand miles) but didn't really get on with it, and preferred hearing the exhaust once that was done!

The rest of it is really suggestions based on what I've read here, and the fact that getting the power down and keeping it there is one of the hardest bits - no point in a million hp if you can only use 2!.

The two single biggest improvements for me were the Jabba remap and the rear ARB.

Hi there,

I went for DNA tuning from Stratford upon Avon. It is not really in Berkshire area but IMHO it's definitely worth a trip. Anyway my journey from reading to Stratford was very pleasant and the one back home was amazing . I couldn't belive how fast my Octy was:thumbup:

My car is now totally different animal :-)

John @DNA is top bloke and really knows his stuff. He is very friendly and patient to explain every single question ( some of them were most likely stupid) i asked. Great coffee is just another nice part of the service ;).

After 2 months and 3000 miles I haven't had any problem. It pulls like train. In third gear it pulls like it was pulling in second before the remap. Fuel economy is just like it was before, around 32MPG. Even with five people in the car it doesn't have any hesitation when i push the pedal.

That's not all. Price was also great. At the time when i did it, the price was 225 pounds only. I think those were the best 225pounds i ever spent in my life.

Cheers

Igor
