Loss of boost!!!!

Featured Replies

Hi there i'm having probs with my 2003 octy vrs.

I had the car remapped with the byteshooter software and all was well for around 6 weeks.

Then all of a sudden i get a complete loss of power. If i turn the ignition off then back on its fine. likewise if i leave the MAF sensor unplugged it is fine.

I fitted a uprated DV and replaced the MAF it ran fine for a few days then went belly up again!!!

It drives fine and you can actually hear the turbo spool up but there is just no real kick.

I've also checked boost hoses etc....

Could it be possible that it is another faulty MAF or something totally different and ridiculous!!!!!!

Please help me guys!!!!

Have you run vag com on it for fault codes

I had this problem, after much investigation I found that it's usually caused when the ECU senses a boost leak. If you had a boost gauge you would probably find that boost was down to around 5psi. Mine sorted itself when I removed/refitted the recirculation valve.

This sounds a lot like the problem I just had which turned out the be the turbo intake pipe (TIP) - it had come off the turbo.

Does your car have the standard TIP or an aftermarket one? There's no way the standard one will come off - it bolts on - but an aftermarket one possibly could.

Or maybe another hose has either popped off or split under the higher boost?
