1.9 4x4 remap anyone?

Featured Replies

Exactly what it says above... Has anyone got a 1.9TDi 4x4 that has been remapped that they can pass comment on please.

I've been checking out second hand prices of 2.0TDi and 1.9TDi's and they are ridculous given that I can get a new car for significantly less than a second hand one (saving about

dunno of anyone who has, but if its the PD130 its been remapped on a hundred fabia vRS's so you'd be getting a nice 170-180bhp 4*4 with better traction than the octy PD170 vRS.....

would be a nice sleeper :)

Unfortunately the 1.9 is the 105bhp lump so should go to 140 ish bhp no problem.

I would like a sleeper and a remapped 2.0TDi would be my preference but the cost is an issue when I could save over

is that saving including the cost of the remap plus extra insurance for the time you have it?

Roughly yes... the saving is roughly

sounds good, didnt realise you could get a reduced mileage policy. might look into it for my wife

I had one like that when I ran the lancia thema turbo (I had a company car at the time..) limited miles, and also worth pointing out to the insurer, that you DON'T use it to travel too and from work... this apparently makes a big difference (all those cold winter morning crashes in the fog...) they may give you even more off....

The 2.0 engine revs a lot better and is smoother then the 1.9PD. The 1.9PD will be cheaper to buy as it is much less sort after engine but then it will harder to sell later on and probably depreciate more.

Having had experience of both the 2.0TDI 140 and the 1.9TDI 105, (in both standard and remaped form) I would say if you could aford it go for a standard 2.0TDI.

The 6th gear the 2.0TDI has plus the way the power is delivered makes a hell of a difference. Yes the 1.9TDI can be remaped to 140bhp, but trust me I bet the 2.0TDI in standard form would/is still quicker than the tweeked 1.9TDI.

If you really can't aford to go for a 2.0TDI (like I couldn't) than yes the 1.9TDI (which is still a cracking engine BTW) with a remap is a good fall back position, but give me the choice I'd go for the 2.0TDI every time!

Johnwg,

Thanks for the info. I've actually now done some searching around and have found a S/H 1.9 TDi 4x4 with a 6 speeds box so I'm guessing thatwill help things (same top and bottom gear ratios as the 5 speed but closer spaced?)

Just out of interest how "detectable" are the remaps? eg I'm thinking servicing and warranty?
