On my Fabia, I removed the panel surrounding the 2 map reading lights so that I could add a microphone for my phone kit.

I n doing so the swich that control the light for the cabin/door opening etc pinged off also. I am now unsure how to fit this back on.

I can get the surround on ok but the swich looks like it should just cliip bank on but when putting in through the hole there seems to be nothing for it to catch.

Consequently my interior lights no longer work. Can anyone help?

Same thing happened to me doing the exact same job, fitting a handsfree microphone !

In my case the small conical spring which holds the sliding switch in place and against it's contacts went into orbit !

I found the spring a day or two later down the side of the back seat, re-fitted it and all was well again.

If you are missing the spring, then that's your problem.

depends on what the springs like. depending, you could substitute with another.

I managed to lose the little ball-bearing inside the passenger side electric window switch of my wife's car when trying to fix the little pictagram that had snapped off and dropped inside. Tried all sorts of substitutes, but ended up ordering a new switch from the stealers. Came in a pack of two as it goes, for about six quid I think. Might be worth biting the bullet and ordering a new switch yourself, rather than struggling to bodge it...?

It will be a complete light unit.

The light unit is the same one as fitted to the MK4 Golf .... keep your eyes open & you might be able to pick one up on ebay as the W8 interior light swap (with the red leds) is a popular mod with the Mk4 Golf boys.
