Reverse Light Switch

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I believe my reverse light switch has failed on my 2000/X Octavia SLXi.

I'm a bit of a muppet when it comes to cars so was wondering if someone can give me the precise location of said switch, with pictures if possible?

Thanks

Hi Mate

I have no pics , but it is located in the gearbox

Sarah

Usually on top of the gearbox under the battery. Sometimes the wires break, so it is worth checking these before getting a new switch.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look at the weekend.

Am i able to see it without removing the battery?

If it's under the battery, it will also be under the battery tray, and quite possibly the air filter box and trunking.

You should be able to see it, but you may need to remove the battery to get at it properly.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated

I had this on my Audi A3. The wires break. On the A3 you have to take the battery and tray out. Basically the wires are a bit tight on all Golf IV-based cars.

Take a look here:
