mot fail

Featured Replies

hi guys hope someone can help

octavia 2002 2L automatic

2 problems

1) my rear drivers side door wont open from inside or outside ( my fault initially it wouldnt open from the outside but like an idiot i tried the child lock and closed the door ) it looks like there is a clip missing when i compare it to the other door looking down the handle from the ouside the plastic is C shaped and i can get a small screwdriver down inside the handle, i think it will need a hook type to catch the lock. if anybody knows how the door lock operates i would be greatful for the help.

(2) code problems

the car failed its mot this morning also on emissions. it seems like it cant read any of the two lambda sensors. the suggestions made that is to go to an car electrical engieer to find the problem

could the sensors be dirty and a clean in brake fluid may help?????????

i dont know. the strange thing about this is the engine management light is not on

but there is a bad smell of sulphur as if they are not working.

any help would be great

thanks alasdair

hi again good news

got the back door open

problem two still remains

Hmmm, I'm sure a fault code scan with Vagcom would work wonders - any local Briskodians happy to help him out?

If you've got a smell of suphur, or rotten eggs, from the exhaust, change your filling station. The problem there is almost certainly a batch of fairly high sulphur fuel, where combustion products include SO and SO2, which catalyse to H2S in a 3-way convertor.

hi ken

funny i was also woundering if that also could be the reason for the lambda sensors not working, maybe sooted up or gunged up. going to take them out on monday and clean and check them

oh in case anybody wondering about the door

i got it open but had to destroy the outside handle by cutting the plastic piece off that goes into the door lock mechanism, allowing me to hook the mechanism with a small bent screwdriver
