Broken Furby vRS

Featured Replies

Don't normally post in this part of the forum so here goes. Just after a few ideas really as I am posting on behalf of a friend.

My friend has a Furby vRS which was in a dealers today to have an oil leak in the turbo area fixed, a service as it is at 19500 miles and a few other things taken care of.

On his journey home after he picked the car up, while travelling at 40ish mph, there was a loud bang, huge amounts of black smoke and a total loss of power. Not being far from his house he carried on (perhaps not wise I hear you say) very slowly with lots of smoke when the accelerator was pressed.

It sounds to me (and him) like the turbo has gone pop. I understand it is common. Car is standard by the way.

I just wondered what others views were. I believe he plans to ring the dealers first thing and play merry hell. Not sure I would like to be them.

Intercooler hose popped off?

Chris

Could be just a popped turbo hose. :) Might be more serious.... :(

Sounds like a hose has popped off as Chris says.

Cheers guy. It looks like worst case Turbo and at best a blown hose.

Fingers crossed.

Lol

I saw him dropping it off yesterday.

It was me that pointed out the leak to him when he was here - it's the EGR.

I'd guess it is the pipe.

My mate has contacted the dealer and as well as being less than apologetic they have told him to call Skoda assist.:(

The RAC man is there now and while we are still waiting for the final verdict it would appear that they have made a complete Horlicks of what they were trying to fix yesterday. :thumbdwn:

I for one would not be impressed at this point but I have told him to get the car mobile and then visit in person. In my case that is normally enough to focus their attention.

Oh dear.

I hope all goes well. I would say that if it is one of these pipes they do have a habit of 'blowing' off so whilst infuriating might be a genuine problem that couldn't be avoided.

Hose has been reattached by the RAC man with the addition of a few plastic straps. According to the RAC man it has probably been moved when they tried (and failed) to fix the oil leak.

Sometime today my mate will be back to the dealers to get the original problem and this new one fixed. Hopefully they treat him better than earlier.

My EGR leaked, and was replaced under warrenty... I know of others on here who've had the same problem too.... the RAC men are getting used to reattatching the hoses too!
