Door Locking Problem

Featured Replies

Afternoon All,

Got my first problem on my Octy today.

When locking or opening the car from the drivers side all doors and the boot open apart from the front passenger door. Even using the door locking button inside the car locks and unlocks all the doors bar this one.

But if i open the car from the passenger side it will open all the doors and the door with the problem and lock them all.

Has anyone got any ideas as i need to get this sorted before i forget and leave it open one night :)

Its a '98 plate 1.6 GLXi if that helps

Cheers

Paul

a common problem is broken wires. open the pass door ,in the rubber boot where the wires go into the door.

Check the door mirror, if it won’t move or heat it’s the wiring to the door control unit used to feed power the door lock and the door mirror. When water gets into the unit it collects at the lowest point and rots the wire. If not then the door lock motor or the wiring from the control unit to the door lock has rotted. Have a look in the door, the box below the window motor is the control unit, remove it and have a look inside, check for water and rusted/rotted contacts.

Best of luck
