Fabia 1.4 16V comfort new cam-belt (not dealer)

Featured Replies

Hi there

I am considering buying a new 1.4 16V Fabia. It is 7 years old and done about 40k, but has not had cam belt changed. From a main dealer I believe it would cost me about

parts are about

When I got mine replaced, it was less than that from a main dealer - ~

Its is tricky doing both belts and timing them up without the timing tools isnt advisable.

I recently bought a Fabia 1.4 16v with 40K on the clock. I checked the service history, and in the book, it says at the last service (36K) one of the parts replaced was a "toothed belt". Is this the same thing as the cam belt/timing belt? I'm guessing it is, but not being particularly mechanically minded, I'm not certain. Any advice much appreciated.

Yep, toothed belt, timing belt and cambelt all the same thing.

Looks like you struck lucky then! :)

Best have someone pop the cover off though and make sure its tip-top, especially if there is no receipt.

Next due at 96,000 or 4 years from the date it was done, whichever is the soonest. :)

Re: cam belt change, I called some local dealers (local to Lancaster) and found a couple willing to do it for around

Id be making sure they were changing both belts and tensioners at that price as the genuine parts come to
