I am gutted to say that some little boy racer in an escort decided that my Superb was too long so helped me to shorten it by turning in front of me at a traffic light junction !!!

It happened at 2330hrs on Friday 13th!!!

He is saying that i jumped a red light, but it is about 500yds from the office i work from and has a red light camera on the lights which i supposedly jumped!!! So there is no way i did!! The insurance would not give me a hire car though as he is contesting it and i have had to hire a PCO licensed car myself!!, even though i am fully comp!

I just have to hope that the camera was active and that my solicitors get on top of it quickly.

I do not remember hours before, during or after the accident as i got quite a bad bang on the head and they did not release me from hospital until 4.30pm Sat 14th.

Hope i can get enough money back on the car to get another one but dont know what it was worth, anyone got any ideas. It is an '03 1.9tdi pd 130 comfort, Nightfire blue, Beige cloth interior, 136,000 miles. Looked lovely and everyone commented on it when they got in it!! I think it is hard to find this colour combination is it not?

On another note if you find out they scrap the car then let me know where it goes as I could use some spare parts!!

Hope it all manages to get resolved soon. You may find that when the insurance look at it they may want to repair it, the problem is the milage will make it difficult to value. It also depends upon weather there is any chassis damage or engine, if it is just cosmetic then it, depends on the value they place on it as to what they will do.

Just incase it is written off though you should go and get the tax disk cause it is one of your possessions and it can be cashed in if and when it is written off.

Cripes! Glad you're ok, although I shudder to think what the state of the escort is if the Superb has suffered that degree of damage!

Echo what others have said and on the plus side at least you came out of it with relatively minor injuries. Hope you get it all sorted quickly and find a replacement car

I got written by a red light DD a few mths back, my car was a Vx, while I was hunting the Superb down I saw a few with sim miles and age, iirc most were asking 4-6k for them, I think the insurance company will settle at over 5k myself despite the miles the Superb is pacing the Passat now for S/H value.

A mate of mine had a similar accident years ago and still can't remember the accident itself. He was the one the went through the light and he has no idea what happened. He's normally an excellent driver.

Yes i suppose it is good that another 'scort is off the road, although i cannot tell what condition it was actually in due to my memory loss.

The car is defo uneconomical repair and not sure where it is going but will do my best to find out

The tax was up next month so no point and the stereo was only cassette head unit with changer and both were not very reliable. Cd kept getting mechanical probs and would have to run to boot and eject then reinsert!! also radio seemed to keep finding other signals without changing frequency and little annoying cutouts, so i just left it. Dunno what other spares are any good as courtesy had stopped working as well due to the water ingress prob.

Maybe just dont want to see it any more and upset myself!!

Nah I don't think it makes a difference mate but I may be wrong.....

When and engineer looks at a car, they may give a little extra for declaired mods, ie alloy wheels, or factory options like sat nav, leather etc. as for colour and trim etc, thay might not have even seen the car themselves, alot work from a desk now and might not have any visual to go on, so no it wont make a differance.

At the end of the day any insurance company dealing with a claim wants it to cost as little as possible, and it is the job of the engineer to ensure that happens. The only time they will bother about car colour is when they have to paint it, if it is a particualy expensive paint, or particualy difficult paint to apply.

Unfortunatly I dont think you can argue rarity of the car based on colour with them either, if it was a special edition mayby. All i will say is try it, if you get the engineer on a good day, they may do someting for you, but it is now very much coming to the point with companies where they will make you an offer and you can take it or leave it, thats your chioce.

Typical. Some 18 yr old pikey crashed in to the back of my Superb a year ago this month, he asked a witness to lie and say it ws my fault! The pikey failed it its attempt to twist the truth and has now also to pay out several grand for the injuries he caused me.
