Patsys had a bath...

Featured Replies

Well, as I did the wheels a few weeks ago, thought I'd better do the rest of the car.

No before pics I'm afraid - simply forgot!

Basically at 4yrs and 120k miles, the amount of ****e on the paint was unreal. Its been washed with Megs Gold, clayed with Sonus green with Megs QD as lube, then AG SRP, Megs Paint Cleaner followed by 2 coats of AG EGP. All black bits done with AG Bumper Care (I love this stuff, excellent product).

Non of the products are amazing, but as this really is the work horse, thought I'd try use up the tail end of my old stuff.

The amount of tar on the sides was unreal - its really satisfying claying a white car, you can see every little bit of muck be removed. The down side is that all the products I use dry white :(

I'm pleased with how it looks - but its not exactly stunning. Still, the reflection says quite a bit I suppose. Saying that, this has been done as its been really needed, rather than to gain an awesome look.

The car is covered in light swirling, but its not too bad tbh. Thing is, its solid white (not metallic), so I'm not sure how to tackle it - ah well, thats for another day.

The boot was disgusting - the previous owner used it to cart his dogs about in - must have taken an hour of hoovering, picking out, lint rolling etc, still not all that great, but a new carpet is only

Looks like you got some good results there! Car looks brand new lol! Easily achievable on a car that's done 20k but not 120k

Nice pics , Ive had several White cars and I think they look awesome when freshly washed and waxed.

Cos he's very a stute (BTW, don't know what a stute is - just someone called me that once).

astute -

–adjective

1. of keen penetration or discernment; sagacious: an astute analysis.

2. clever; cunning; ingenious; shrewd: an astute merchandising program; an astute manipulation of facts.

Car looks smart Tom, still think it needs some Ghostbuster logos and Ecto1 plates though :)

sonus green is a type of clay and claying is a form of getting tree sap tar spots and general dirt off the car which normal car shampoo cant get off, its something you should do ideally before you polish and wax the vehicle

Or, my baby....HMS Astute :D

We've already discussed the possibility of turning it into a ghostbuster mobile - it will be done one day!

Thanks for the comments, it really does look good imo.

As for the clay - yes, it pulls all the old ****e out of the paint, makes it absolutely clean ready for polishing then sealing. :)

Sonus Green is a nice mild clay - grey is slighty more aggressive. :)

I can't believe your car with 120k miles and 4 years old looks newer than my car which is 1 year old and ha only done 14k miles. Makes me depressed :( but well done!

Good effort Tom, and you should be pleased with the result - good depth and gloss there, makes it appear now to be more of a Candy White now, rather than solid.

Liking the bungee boot arrangement too :P

And it still needs bigger wheels ;)

If thats the case, you should be ashamed (shouldn't have bought a black one! :P ) Saying that, I'm a nice guy, and will of course offer you a swap!:rofl:

It does look good for its age, no dings, scuffs or scratches - but there is a bit of pitting in the front bumper from stone chips, although it doesn't bother me, it doesn't look as bad as the miles suggest, and you can only see it close up. :)

I know it needs wheels Steve - but what? And then I'd need to lower it cos it would look even more stupid - then bigger brakes cos they'd look small - then as the chassis is sorted I may as well get a remap - but the IC is small, so why not go for an FMIC... then the clutch would need uprating (may as well pop a 6 speed box on too), and then, it'd be ready for a big turbo...

I'm fighting hard to stay off the slippery slope for now!!

If anyone wants to recommend wheels though, please do photoshop some on!

 - slippery slope, I've no idea what you're on about. ;)

I considered these, with adaptors, for mine, but resisting... for now! Obviously PCD is spot on for you, but not sure on offset? Would be different, without going bigger and a bargain price, so you can resist the springs/brakes issue, for now :D

I'll keep sending you suggestions, don't worry!

.............and then the ride would be as hard as nails :thumbdwn:

BeWardy of those who would tempt you

I am very ashamed!! I'll swap it for a day so you can give it the same treatment

Wheels - what about the ones I had on my old Fabia, only 18". It would look

Hmmm, almost tempted for the swap - make it 24hrs - it would only take 7 of them to clean the car! ;)

Nice work.

 They're not as quick as Fabia vRSs you know ;) :P Anyway I bet it would take longer than 7 hours - its that bad.

I nearly washed my car tonight. Then I couldn't be bothered as I'd been stripping walls. Oh well

Just to fuel to the mistake:

What is the ‘Stute?

What is the 'Stute?

Why, that is cute!

You must be new to these walls.

The 'Stute is a wondrous place

Where we each carve out our own space

And run naked in the halls.

Where the Painters Paint

With some Justin restaints

And Dr. Moose (though he's not) sound like one of "them"

Nurse Crachet you should shun

Cause she thinks electro shock is fun

And in truth she is most certainly Satan's kin.

As for me, I rule East Wing

For I am, the Crayon King

Deference to me for it is my due

Should you side with Nurse C

Your fate you will soon see

In my white phosphorous goo-stew

isn't that a poem by andrew scott???

flippin eck! :o i only wanted to know what clay is for:confused: those of you who know me will also know that i clean my car about once a year!
