Oil temp/Pressure Gauges

Featured Replies

Just after some advice on the fitment of aftermarket oil temp and oil pressure senders.

My senders are 1/8npt and the OEM are metric so I will have to use various adaptors.

I have read some people use a t-piece or a y-piece and connect into the OEM pressure switch (M10 X 1 thread)

Is there sufficient room as the sender I have is quite bulky or do people run a relocation hose and t-in somewhere with easy access.

I believe you can use the blanking plug (M10 X 1) on top of the filter housing for the oil temp sender but again there doesn't seem like a lot of room to fit this.

I have read on VDO website that the oil temp sender can be fitted in the sump plug using a brass adaptor.

Any suggestions greatly welcomed:thumbup:

Hi

I fitted my oil pressure gauge sender unit to the top of the oil filter housing using a brass t peice and braided hose i got from a compamy called lma motorsporthttp://www.lmaperformance.com/motorsport/motorsport.html.

The guy i spoke to sorry cant remember his name was very helpful .

It wasnt the easiest job getting into the housing .

I mounted the sender unit beside the airfilter.

Sorry cant help you with the temp gauge.

If you search the threads on the web site there are postings re fitting gauges

Hope this helps

Thanks for your advice.

I emailed the gauge place and this was their helpful response (3 options)

1/ Straightforward OPOT Sandwich plate which will screw into position behind the oil filter and will happily take both types of sender..

I'm collecting an NPT T piece for my sender tomorrow morning. Putting that into the housing, then using a double ended male on one end, and the standard sensor can go back on as well. Will be nice to not have my oil pressure gauge reading 0 psi all the time. :D
