Sat Nav in a Fabia

Featured Replies

How long do your arms need to be to reach your Sat Nav in a Fabia if you've got it on your windscreen and your seat has to be fully back  ?????

I've just purchased a Navman F20 in the Halfrauds sale and i've had to stick it to the ashtray lid for now (not ideal i know but its only temporary)

I'm going to get a flat hard disc of plastic, metal, glass... whatever and stick it to the dash just above the air vents then apply the sucker to it but i just wondered what everyone else has done?

Maybe your seating position is incorrect ;)

Mine is ok as its on a fairly long armed window sucker, maybe they do these as an optional extra?

My seat is ideal for driving, i can reach all controls but at full stretch with my back on the back rest i'm about a foot off reaching the bottom of the windscreen and no i haven't got short arms and i'm just under 6 foot tall.

I use either my misus' Garmin i3 with kit that allows it to sit straight on the dash, or my Garmin 2610, similarly equipped (also with remote)

Might be worth investigating mounting it on a Dashmount bracket and/or a RAM mount

Just a word of warning. If you stick a flat disk to the dash to mount the satnav on its a big advertisment to the theiving scrots that you have a satnav in the car.

The police in my area are even warning people to wipe away the round mark on the windscreen left by the sucker before leaving the car.

Good advice, the theiving tog rags know what to llok for and will break in to see if its still in the car. Even if it isnt you still have the hassle of repairing the damage.

I have the same prob, being over 6ft.

Don't think there is an answer unless you put it on the side window next to you, but then how will you order your Macy D's at the drive through.

I have a plastic disc which I have fitted under the dash below the heater controls. The sat nav sits over the ash tray. I have to use another sat reciever but works well. No marks on the screen or stuff stuck to the top of the dash.

Only thing is it's a bit low down to look at, but when your driving you don't want to be looking at it, eyes off the road makes you hit stuff, not good.

Why don`t you get a remote for it plus you don`t have to see the screen just listen.

Tell me more about these remotes.

Are they dash mounted?

How much are they?

Plus if i did mount the sat nav on the windscreen the cable would be at full stetch to the cigarette lighter socket.

They don't seem to have thought it through

I suspect that most satnavs are designed to go into cars where the cigarette lighter is in the dash, rather than all that way back
