More terrible service from Snows in Fareham - rear bumper fit

Featured Replies

I dont have the energy to describe in detail the terrible service I have had from Snows body shop in Fareham (Skoda Authorised!!!) In essence, mu Superb needed the front and rear bumpers replacing after a prang. After 11 months they had their fifth try at repairing it properly. They dropped the car off at my office today - and I discovered that they have still not fitted the black rubber strip properly to the rear bumper. Not only this, but they have scratched my car elsewhere on the body!

The rubber strip sits in a recess in the bumper but there is a .75 CM gap at each end! The strip previously fitted perfectly flush right to the end of the recess - as it does on the front bumper.

they are trying to tell me that Skoda have changed the design of the rear bumper itself so the grove is longer. My car is a 55 so is not that old. I dont believe Skoda have changed the bumper - in any case, I dont care, I want my car back with the bumper sorted.

1) Have Skoda changed the design of the rear bumper in the last 1.5 years?

2) Do other members Superbs black bumper strips fit or do they leave a .75 CM gap at each end

Please advise.

Presumably, if Skoda have changed the bumper, they will have changed the black strip to fit.

Im thinking of taking legal action against Snows fir wasting my time and damaging my car.

Any advice.

Cheers,

Chris

Nick at Castle Bodyworks in Fareham is also a Skoda Approved repairer, he used to do all of the work but then SUK started to use Snows for warranty work.

Might be worth nipping over to see him for a second opinion etc.

Drop me a PM if you need any more info.

Mine is a 55 plate and their is no gaps at either end of the bumper the black rubber strip fits into the recess perfectly. HTH.

Pete

Did you manage to get round to see Nick Chris??

Hi Stu. No, but I called him and he confirmed they have done the same repairs on Superbs and the strip should fit. Interestingly, I called Skoda UK and they stated that Snows in Fareham were definately NOT an authorised repair centre. Snows have the Skoda signs all over the place saying they are - and told me they are?

I called Snows and told them I had checked it out and can confirm from three seperate sources that their repair was unsatisfactory. Told them I didnt care what they had to do, but I was not taking the car back until they had put it back as it was before the accident - and repaired the additional damage they did to my car.

I m giving them 21 days to return my car in perfect condition. If they fail to do this Im taking legal action against them.

DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO SNOWS IN FAREHAM.

PS Stu, thanks for your help.

I just want my car back as it was.

Lets hope it gets sorted properly soon.

With regard to the gap that you mention, I looked at the back of my Superb yesterday and notice that there is a small gap in the chrome strip at the top each side of the boot lid - i guess for expansion in hot weather? but the edges (near the wheels) have no gaps at all.

Snows dropped the car off at my office today. They say they are making a waranty claim on Skoda as the parts are defective.

When I had to drive to see a client 30 mins after it was dropped off. On the way up there, I found that CD1 would not play - it said "SURFACE" - I aso found fag ash in the ash tray. When I parked up, I checked the CD autochanger and found the CD door was open and one of the disks in the caddy had been inserted upside down. I then checked the car over properly as I had 30 mins to spare. I found a scratch on the front bumper (drivers side) and when checking the rear bumper, found there is now a bloody great gap between it an the bodywork - particuarly big on the near side.

I find it beyond belief that Snows of Fareham can do this. This is doing my head in. Not only have thay failed yet again to fit the bumper properly, but they have been driving around in my car, have scratched the front have been smoking in it and listning to music.

I have decided the only thing to do is take legal action against them as they have repatedly failed to repair my car and have damaged it and also driven it about (NOT FOR DELIVERY PURPOSES) - I did not give them permission to drive my car, nor to smoke in it nor to mess about with my CDs and I definately did not authorise them to scratch the front.

Does anyone here know the best course of action to take legally?

Cheers,

Sorry to hear another tale of woe curtesy of the motor trade mate. Bit of sticky one this. You say they are themselves involved with SUK over your car ? . Yet though they claim to be skoda approved SUK said they are not ! . Something strange me thinks ! .

Try running it past your local trading standards people, as well as speaking to the citizens advice . Also run it past SUK again , telling them what Snows told you about the parts claim.

Bob.
