Not your usual d/v thread...

Featured Replies

Ok, for the last week i've been getting an intermittant cel light on.

Vag-COM confirms its the old 17705.

After Several cross post checking/reading it looks like it's down to a pipe of some sort either split or similar.

But tonight, i took the engine cover off to get a good look..

. and on the d/v (which is a hyperboost one) i noticed that the pipe that comes from the left hand side (as you look at it) is able to rotate freely.

I undone the jubilee clip and retightend, but it still does it.

The pipe itself is tight on the d/v, and it's the part of the d/v that can turn.

i'll post a pic when i can as i cant explain it very well.

Does anyone know if this is normal ?

As i'm wondering if this is perhaps causing the 17705.

Thanks

Johnny.

The arrow points to the part of the d/v that can rotate.

Note : the jubilee clip was loosened when i took the picture.

If you mean the pipe that forms part of the DV is rotating then it sounds broken to me which would also likely be causing an air leak. Have you got the standard DV you can try?

Yes, the pipe that forms part of the d/v.

Unfortunately i dont have the standard one.

This was on the car when i bought it last week.

Do the hyperboost DV's have a lifetime warranty like the forge equivalents do?

I havemy old standard one in my hut if you want to try it, im just along the road in the honest toon, or you should be able to get a forge one at roseisle motor company whitecraig.

Not sure about the warranty, i've contacted Awesome where the previous owner bought it from, to find out if this is normal..lol

Kenny, would that be a problem to borrow your standard one for a few days to see if this clears my running problems ?

I'm in Port Seton.

I've PM'd you. :)

At least this way i can whip it right off and check it out.

Right, i swapped the d/v over tonight for the standard one and it made no difference at all.

Only thing i noticed, was that the idle was now very lumpy.

But, one good thing, the hyperboost d/v part i'm on about is threaded, hence why it can turn, i refitted it, tightned it up. And the idle is slightly better than with the standard one on.

So, the search continues...
