Octy mk 1 Vrs 55 reg--MPG please

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Currently have a Fab Vrs--what sort of mpg could you expect from a 55 reg mk 1

Octavia Vrs please

Many thanks

Mac

Obviously depends on how you drive it and whether its standard or modded. On short runs around town I get about 30-35mpg while on long motorway runs and can get anything to about 42mpg.

HTH

ps, car is a 54 plate Octy VRS - completely standatd atm.

I'm lucky to see more than 27-28 on average with mine :( .

work run is twisty back lanes though so probably doesn't help that.

On a long run I get around 36-40 mpg at motorway speeds, and can see over 40 at a steady 50-60 mph.

Refills are usually about 300-330 miles for me.

BUT, the smiles per gallon you will get are worth far more than miles per gallon :P

Hope this helps............

Over the 2 1/2 years I've had mine (from new in feb 05) I've got 36mpg based on what I put in rather than the computer. I get about 380 per fill.

i only get around 22mpg when driving in town which is most of the time but on a run upto 36mpg but my car is running around 230-240bhp!

Maybe I've just turned in to an old fart!!

:D

That is mostly motorway (honest - I do have my moments...)

on mixed running (to and from work plus some longer journeys) I would get between 320-340miles from a tank. On a long run this would go up to around 400 miles on a tank. This would equate to around 32-36mpg on the computer normally (up to 40mpg on a long run). However, if I drove a bit too enthusaitically I could see this figure drop into the low 20s. Still for the preformance I got I was more than happy (certainly better on fuel than similar paced rivals i.e. Focus ST170). I now have a Mk2 TDi VRs with resultant outstanding fuel ecomony!!

My Mk1 with 115k on the clock returns about 30mpg on the short run to work (5 miles) if I take it steady. This can easily drop to 18-19mpg if I am late :-)) On a normal motorway run it can be anything between 37-42 mpg depending on distance and condition

I get about 350 miles to a tank, not a great deal of them is round town. - I don't pay much attention to the on board computer as far as MPG is involved as they're never that accurate.
