Power of air though vents?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I seem to have a problem with the power of air coming through the vents. It used to be powerful on settings 3 & 4 but now it just lightly blows on all settings. It does get slighty stronger as it moves form 1 - 4.

The temperatures are fine...cold, hot and A/c all work, just the power.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Si

how old is the car? Might be worth dropping the pollen filter out and giving it clean out inside and possibly replacing it if its too dirty?

it's an X reg (year 2000)

Does the fan speed definitely change? The resistor pack in the switch has been known to fail so it could be that......

Yeah, the fan speed changes

I'd go with either the pollen filter, or if your car has them a sticking flap motor.

Sticking flap motor?

I think the flap motors just adjust the ratio of hot/cold air rather than the amount that is coming out....

Chris

I would check the filter. If the speed changes fine from 1,2,3,4, and it is just a general drop in speed, something is clogging the system. Check the pollen filter first - if that's clear it might be worth removing the cover off the fan (remove glovebox to access it) - There might be something in the fan itself causing it to spin slower (some leaves perhaps)
