Help me choose a Micro ATX board

Featured Replies

Need some help choosing the above.

Looking for the following:

socket 775 for Core2Duo

Optical output

Onboard Firewire (to link to case)

At least 4 internal SATA (Raid would be a bonus)

PCI Express x16

Not bothered about onboard vga as I'll be buying an 1950XT (pointer to sites that have them in stock would be nice :) )

Thats about it for now.

Cheers

I presume you're going with M-ATX due to case size? What sort of budget did you have in mind? Any preferred manufacturers, or ones you want to avoid because of previous experience etc?

Its going in here Kustom PCs Antec Fusion HTPC Case v2 Black

As for the make, I'm open minded. Did have a Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2H in mind but cant seem to find the S2H version anywhere. Also had my eye on a Abit Fatal1ty F-I90HD but done think its got onboard firewire.

Out of those two, I'd rather go for the G33 one. I've heard that the Fatality boards aren't as stable and don't overclock as well (should that be of interest). However, I don't have any personal experience and the comments were more for full size boards...

Overclocking might be an option :)

I've gone for the intel G33. Read a couple of good reviews about the G33's. Couldnt really find much about the fatality boards.

Cool should get all my parts in the next few days. :)
