Advice needed for DIY service

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I recently bought a 2002 Fabia comfort 1.9DTi estate with 110k clock . It had FSH and last service was done at 102k a year ago. No service indicator flashing yet, but I am thinking of getting the work done myself. However this is my first diesel DIY service exeperience. The questions are:

1. Is it any much different from servicing a petrol engine, and are there any tricky stuff I should leave to the dealer?

2. What full service parts do I need, and any of you have a favourite supplier for service parts?

3. Can I reset the service indicator myself?

4. The cambelt was last done at 66k, so when is the next one due?

Thanks in advance.

1) You don't have to change the glowplugs every year.

4) About now I think, since the latest advice is "every 48_000 miles or 4 years if sooner".

Thanks for the advice. So any good recommendation for parts?
