Smashed Mirror (Indicator Lens)

Featured Replies

Well i had a bit of bad luck with some **** in a Volvo and basically he caught my drivers side mirror when going down a narrow road. The actual mirror is ok, but the Indicator lens has smashed.

Does anyone know if you can buy just this part or is it a case of replacing the whole unit?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Car is a 2006 Octavia vRS.

Thanks

The bottom part of the mirror housing is one piece, the black plastic and clear plastic part that is.

You can order the part from your local dealer and make sure you order it without the puddle light as you have a vRS.

You can pop off the plastic colour coded mirror housing to expose the innards of the mirror, the plastic bottom is held on with (IIRC) a torx screw. I had the exact same problem last year.

EDIT:

I lied! it was earlier this year! http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-octavia/clear-plastic-door-mirror-cover/76622/?highlight=LED+mirror

AFAIK you need to pop off the glass to access the Torx screws, well thats what I was told when mine was replaced under warranty for water ingress.

I think you're right, I now recall having to pop off the glass to get to the bottom screw(s?). It's held on with plastic tabs which require caution when handling.

which require caution when handlig.

I wouldn't fancy popping that off, I was also told the glass is quite thin....and easily broken, so nickg123 take it nice and handy with it

Thanks guys, i'll give the dealer a shout to find out how long it will take. Do you know roughly how much it was off the top of your head?

IIRC it was about 100 Euro for just the indicator lens.

I paid
