Decent Braking solution required

Featured Replies

Car in question is a 2.0 GLXi Octavia, 2000 reg.

Currently, the brakes are "acceptable" if a little slow to do anything.

Given the history of 1 set of discs on the front each year, and rears done last year too, I'm keen to get something a bit more "meaty".

I tend to warp, rather than wear, the discs, so something that can deal with high temps and good cooling would be appreciated.

Anyone got any views on what would be best bet, in terms of price/performance - and i'm looking for disc and pads all round (front and rear)

EBC grooved discs and Ferrodo DS2500 pads.....and upgrade the brake fliud to dot4.1......if you don't intend to go on track then Castrol Response Super is fine but Silkolene Pro RCE 2000 is supposedly the dogs dangly bits.

...alternatively a few peeps have Blackdiamond grooved discs and are pleased with the results.

Prices DS2500 pads around

EDIT : on track? With a bog-std 2.0? Agsint you guys? I'm mad, not crazy... :D

Just out of interest, have you found out why the discs are warping? We got some Godspeed unwarpable (;)) discs for the Scooby and found that the EBC Greenstuff pads we were using were leaving deposits on the discs which formed hotspots and caused the disc to cool unevenly and warp.
