don't the dealers want to service my car ?

Featured Replies

i phoned Lightcliffe in Halifax this mornng to ask for a price for my fabia first service.i spoke to a woman who didn't seem to know what she was doing, she took my phone number and said she'll get someone to phone me after 4 (i was at home then),but no one has called.

i hate companys that do that, looks like i'l be going to an ex skoda dealer who great but doesn't offer either the new fabia or roomster as courtesy cars.

Telfords in Carlisle are like that, took me an age to get my Fabias bushes replaced under warranty.

Sounds normal. Use a good local garage - whatever they say at the dealers, your guarantee is OK if book properly filled in by garage. I wasted a lot of money over 3 years before I found this out. Best of luck.

144 quid was still lower than the 200+ quid I got charged. And no, they didnt do the annual and yes I questioned it (twice). They decided to not change their price and as such lost my business at that point.

Awesome in Manchester or Parkside in Bolton aren't too far away from you if you want to look a bit further afield.

are you comparing like for like?

you may be getting quotes for annual inspections and for 10,000 mile services, which are different things!

the ex skoda dealer have quoted me around

As long as the garage who services your car uses VAG group parts or VAG approved and stamps the book then your pretty much ok.

Mines due soon so i'll post back, probably next month.

The garage where I get my car done used to be a Skoda dealer , and they used Castrol GTX magnatec on my car back then , and still do. I like to use genuine parts too , wherever possible.

I'm taking mine in for its 50k interim service tomorrow, dealer quoted

They only need to use VAG approved parts until its out of warranty, after that you can use any thing you like, my previous car, a Golf GTi always went to the local garage who never used VAG parts but quality 3rd party items and it never missed a beat.

As for the oil, DGW mentioned in a sticky thread "You must use an oil which meets specification VW 505 01. The following oils are approved to that specification:"

Unfortuantly Castrol GTX isn't on the list but Castrol GTD 505 01 5W-40 is, check out the full list here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/what-engine-oil-should-i-use-my-fabia-vrs/23797/
