Wierd noise from central locking

Featured Replies

Hi

Every now than then, when I remove the key from the ignition each of the locks in the doors click - similar but not exactly like when you lock/unlock the car. I do not think I am pressing the unlock button on the remote accidentally as I remove the key as the noise is different.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Two things spring to mind -

Do you have Anti HiJack enabled? If so then that is it.

Anti Hijack is enabled in two parts, one bit of the coding locks the doors and another unlocks them, could be that it's half coded.

Rain closing?

If you have this feature sometimes, even with no rain, when you turn the car off each window mechanism will fire in turn - dum-dum-dum-dum - to check the windows are closed.

Hi Stu - does this suggest a fault if it's half coded, or something that can be reset through Maxidot?

Interesting thought - would rain closing be a standard enabled feature of an Elegance spec Octavia - I know, stop being lazy Glen, just go out and check in Maxidot!

I'm looking at it from a VAG-COM point of veiw where you have to make two changes.

Hi, i am new here. so Hi to all.

I think what Stu means is that since it is enabled/disabled in two parts in VAG-com, it is possible that only the Unlocking part was enabled and the locking part was not enabled. This would mean that when the car picks up the speeds of over 15km/h (I think) it wont lock the doors, but when the key is turned off and pulled out, the car will TRY to unlock the doors as this half of the feature is enabled hence the noise. A good test would be to manually lock the doors after the car is running, and then turn the key off and remove the key, and check if the doors unlock. if it does, then this half of anti hijack feature is enabled :)

Yep, it's on mine and I get the same.

The rain sensor only needs to see a spec of dust, and you'll get the clicks.

To test turn on car when it's dry, turn off - should have no locks.

Then try agan, turn off engine but touch the rain sensor before turning off ignition. You should get clicks ;)

Hmmm... some things to try when I have a moment then - I'll try out the various suggestions and update this thread with my findings.

Thanks to you all.

Hi All

Finally got round to checking this and have found that disabling rain closing function within Maxidot stops the clicking.

Thanks all for suggestions.
