The Alarm On My Vrs

Featured Replies

Can anyone please tell me how the system works. When you press the button to lock the doors I thought the alarm beeped but no,they is no sensors in the car? and how do you know the alarm is set.

Alarm beeps as well as confirmation indicator flash can be enabled/disabled. The confirmation flash is normally on by default.

How do you turn the beep on?

Mine just flashes

Mine just blips.

VAG-COM or the 5051 Computer at the stealers. It's not a customer adjustable setting unfortunately.

Unless the customer has VAG-COM of course ;)

Mine beeps - thanks Stu

how does vag cam work then and is it expensive?

can you **** up your car messing with it?

yes you can balls it up so you need to *cough* know what you are doing or have someone (stu) who knows what they are doing telling you how to do it ;)

mine beeps noisy as hell in the early hours when going to work neighbours must be heavy sleepers

I think this is a bit misleading. If you follow the guides it's very easy and intuitive to use. With the Fabia Mk1, you don't need the Canbus stuff so you can get an el-cheapo lead off ebay and use v3.1.x of VAG-COM (which is just regular PC software). Laptop makes it a bit easier.......

Chris

As Chris says VAG-COM is fairly intuitive however you do need to be very careful as you can render things inoperable.

The later versions of software with genuine cables has some good 'balloon' assistance popups.

I've got one of the 'cheapo' cables from ebay to use with my old GTi, its USB to the standard VAG OBD (?) port, is this ok for use with the VRS and is it version v3.1.x of the software?

It can't be guarenteed and it won't be supported by Ross Tech but it's free to try.

Mine beeps and flashes :)

Stu, do you know if you can enable the delayed last wipe with vag-com? Cos mine doesn't do it.....you know when you wash your windows and it stops wiping, then does one last wipe to wipe up the drips? :D I want mine to, and it doesn't  Blakfabi did :(

I think it's in central convenience, adaption, channel 08.

Change the 0 to a 5

Mine flashes and bleeps (much to the annoyance of the neighbours).

I've also noticed that if you forget to lock it, it sometimes locks itself after a while, but sometimes it doesnt, very confusing!

If you unlock the car but don't open any doors the car re-locks it self after about 30secs or so.

On mine, if i unlock the car with the key the alarm remains active, then all hell breaks loose when i open a door. And locking with key doesn't atcivate the alarm. Anybody else's do the same?

Come to think of it.... I've never actually heard the alarm go off. Which is a good thing I suppose!

How do I check if its working ok without attacking the Furby with a crow bar!?!

Lock car with keyfob, Unlock with key, Confirm door LED still flashing, Open door, Cover ears, It's pretty loud. Mines as loud as the Sigma alarm fitted to SWMBO car!

The alarm is nice and loud. just sit in the car, press the lock button, wait 30 seconds and move and then press the key fob quickly as everyone should now be looking at you :lol
