Vrs Front Grill Mesh

Featured Replies

Whilst washing the car the other day I got round towondering why th n/s lower grill has just one small hole in it yet the o/s is proper mesh???

does anyone know why it isn't normal mesh??

Cheers

Probably cost Skoda more to fit the cutout 'mesh' both sides because the nearside isnt functional?

I always assumed it was to protect the horn's from spray whilst having a small hole so that the external temperature sensor gets an accurate reading. I could be (and most probably am) wrong!

the offside i presume is meash for the intercooler. the nearside however would be most beneficial for CAI. im thinking about taking it out and drilling a few more holes in it to allow for some more air into the area

Thanks guys,

So is this where the standard airbox collects it's air then??

If so then would it be of benefit to add some extra holes??

No, standard air box collects air from inside front wing. Would be of no use in adding extra holes unless running a CAI with the filter tucked down there, however I never have because I don't fancy getting the filter wet with spray etc when driving in heavy rain!

Will leave well alone then.

I'm going to leave the standard airbox on and just get a green filter so no real need to do anything.

Apparently you can cut out the fins inside the air box to help air flow so some people say :)
