How much damage could this do????

Featured Replies

Help form any mechanic please before i go to Lookers Honda tommorrow and rip them a new **** hole!!!

The problem in brief is this,

I had a fault with the temp gauge on my octy 1 vRS. Booked in for repair a week ago and only got the part today. So took her in today for the fix. Picked up 4 hrs later and everyting seemed fine.

BUT NO!!!!

I drove home. Approx 7-8 Miles away when i hear 3 beeps. I look down and my temp warning light is flashing. So i thought they had not filled my coolant back up after the fix earlier today. So i get some coolant and fill it up to full. Within 1 min or less the whole thing is empty and my car is taking a leek on the road!!!!

So all i want to know is how much damage could of been done by driving home with basicly no coolant.

It's a mistake. Mistakes happen. Go back, be nice but firm, and let them correct the problem!

Presumably you stopped as soon as you got the "three bongs" and checked the levels?

Ye stopped and turned off the engine.

Was at home anyway. The problem i have is that i'm in the army and am supposed to be at my new unit tommorrow am. Not going to happen as i came to warrington from burnley to get the car sorted. So need to go back to get my stuff, As i carn't do it tonight with the car in the state it is!!!!

Don't get me wrong - it's far from ideal. Incidentally, why did you take it to a Honda dealer?

if you get no joy try local trading standards and also VOSA.

I bought the car from them last month. Ever since i have had trouble with the service. Would take it to Skoda if i didnt have 12mth Waranty with Honda. They have been about as much use as a chocolate kettle from the momment i got the keys!!!

A thought - how old is car -thinking about AA/RAC cover - least ways then you've got some sort of professional backup, and possibly a fix.(till you get car back to them to replace the coolant with the right mixture)

Wouldn't have thought you did that much damage as the car presumably had some coolant in it while you were driving. Give the dealer another chance to fix it and maybe suggest if they're not comfortable doing the work they can arrange for the local Skoda dealer to do it for them.

Chris

Agreed. Give the Honda guys a chance, but not just cos they're where you got the car from. I've been entirely happy with the service the rest of my family (all Honda owners, so I know what I don't like about Hondas) have had from the garages.

It is now illegal to tie a warranty to a specific manufacturer's garage chain.
