Hissing sound when turned off

Featured Replies

My Superb makes a hissing sound for a few seconds when it is turned off, comes from the drivers side near the firewall in the engine bay. I'm not overly worried as I assume its something to do with the aircon and it doesn't get used much. Just wondering if anyone else had/has a similar problem.

Thanks

Your quite right this is to do with the Air Con and it's just the system 'shutting down' nothing to worry about it's quite normal.

I get the sound of the refridgerent continuing to pass through the system coming through the vents inside the car, as well as the external "hissing"sound too :)

Is it a gurgling noise, or more of a hissing?

If it's a hissing noise, does it go away if you depress the brake pedal? (Don't worry - I'm sure it's the aircon and nothing to worry about - just "belt & braces" check :D)

I get both!:D

If it's 'gurgling' then you might have problems ahead.....

Why mate?

Why mate?

Well......mine doesn't 'gurgle' so I assume it can't be normal....assuming you have the PD TDI engine?

No it just hisses, tried pressing brake pedal doesn't make a difference. Hopefully not a developing problem.

Thanks man, good to know.

Yup - PD140. It only lasts 5-10 seconds in any event, so if it gets worse, it'll be down to the dealer for a warranty check....

Yep, definately the AirCon, mine does that too.. also sometimes I can hear the Turbo deaccelerating too..
