Heavy Power Steering Question.

Featured Replies

Hello there i have had my octy vrs for around 6 months now and the power steering is quite heavy which i thought was ok cos i got plenty of feedback through the steering wheel , but so far this year i have drove 2 more mk1 octy's and a mk2 one and the steering was really light .

I have tried to alter steering assist with vag com but it wont let me .

Any help on this would be great cos i am now worried that the power steering pump is on its way out. Thanks

It could be the PAS pump, but it's more likely to be a low fluid level or excess castor(presumes mk1 with hydraulic PAS, in which case you can't vary assist level in s/w). So check the PAS fluid level first, then a full alignment check, before worrying about the pump.
