Hello everyone,

Thought I would join up as I have had my '02 ocatavia VRS for nearly a year now. Having been stung on my first service (cambelt, tensioners, water pump, brake fluid ETC)thought I would ask some advice and help on maintaining the car myself.

The car itself is fantastic and have really enjoyed owning it so far. Its standard as my wife wont let me play :( Its the family run around. give it time.

At last service the anti roll bar was knocking and have been told that a complete bar is needed. Having done this job on plenty of other cars, came as a bit of a shock. Also it seems, this is a main dealer part only. Is this true?

Sounds like you've covered most of the expensive jobs already.

The ARB is pretty well covered here and I would think if you decided to keep the OEM one it would be main dealer only.
