Question on Superb sounds

Featured Replies

My new Superb will be with me very soon:D . Now I know that my current Octy had a useless stereo unit (Grundig) which I soon changed to Sony cd/radio, but I left the speakers as they were as I had other things to "sort" as my wife would say.

What I would like to know from anyone who has one is what is the stereo system in the Comfort Superb like. I know that the cassette side will be redundant as I only play cd,s, originals and my own compilations ;) , but I am hoping someone will be able to give an idea on its audio ability ie will I need to replace it as soon as I get the car.

My musical tastes include Oasis, Alanis Morrisette, Offspring, anything from the late 70,s/early 80,s, radio 5 live, classic fm, some Abba and S-Club (for the daughters) all mostly played at a nice volume!!!!! where possible.

Any help or comments would be appreciated ( tho not my musical tastes!!)

Cheers guys

The HU in the Superb Comfort i test drove was the same as the one in my RS ie Skoda Symphony. However the sound did appear to be superior , maybe the standard fit speakers are of a better quality then the Octavias? Sorry I cant tell you much more , but i only had the car for 30 mins!

Cheers m8, so my next question is what is the head unit like when in the Octy appreciating that the sound repro may well be better because of speakers and door thickness etc?

Further question foor you all. Reading some other posts, I would assume then that radio unit in the Superb is a Grundig, so would a Blaupunkt go in and need wiring mods to use the existing boot changer? Or would it be able to use the boot changer?

Cheers guys.

ps I wont be going DAB as I have heard they are reducing down the bitrate to cut costs and get more going, and I wont be going MP3 either as I read the Blaupunkt only takes up to 256 bitrate and again that isnt good enough for me.

Cheers

I am pleased to tell you that the sound quality on the superb is 'superb' compared to that in the Octavia RS, even through the head unit would appear to be the same.....

The head unit seems to be quite good in the Octavia , its the speakers in that car that seem to be the weakest link in the system , upgrading these and leaving the HU in place seems to provide a good quality of sound , going by other posts on this forum.
