Featured Replies

while looking under the car yesterday i took off the the cover under the engine, i noticed there is oil on the pipe that goes to the intercooler. as the car is due for 1st service in afew weeks should i wait till then to report this or do it now if possibly serious. also car noisy till you get past 2000 revs especially cold is this normal. thanks:confused:

All VW diesels tend to be pretty gruff when cold mate. How noisy is noisy? I mean - I notice the noise of the engine at idle, but it's not intrusive.

Oil from the intercooler pipe is pretty normal, nowt to be worried about.

you mean something like this?

Index of /stuff/slina

that's pretty normal and nothing to be worried about.

If you took apart the ducting you'll realise its all covered in it.

The engine vents into the intake therefore you can get oil in there, plus the exhaust loops back to the intake as well to control emmisions so the whole intake path is pretty dirty.

and that is pretty much the problem of how to clean the intake opposed to exhaust which you can clean by going full throttle on the highway?

In your pictures you can see oil is leaking from the join between the two pipes. My 5 month old VRS has the same fault, does this not mean that boost is also being lost ?
