... I heard it's alarm today! :D:D:D

After much investigation, two visits to the dealer and lots of help from people on here, I found out that the convenience unit was the route of a non working alarm on my car. I picked up a replacement from a scrap yard for

Good news that Phil

The soft coding on your old one would be handy but not a big problem as you can work it out.

Ha-ha success well done phil

Could the wiring issues with your old unit have been caused by a Turbo Timer or something Phil??

That's a good idea, Stu! I've been at a loss trying to think of what on earth could have been connected... It wouldn't surprise me if it was a turbo timer.

Well done Phil i know this has been giving you a headache.Top marks for perserverance.

The fact that it was perhaps connected to the alarm made me think TT.

Yep, it would certainly make sense. The only other thing I can think of is an alarm pager or some sort of additional sensor.

After having a fiddle with VAG-COM yesterday, and a replacement wire to the interior sensor, I now have it working as it should :D

The only thing which I'm struggling with now is:

With the old convenience unit, it would lock the doors automatically after a couple of minutes if I unlocked it but didn't open a door (so if I was to knock the key in my pocket and unlock it inadvertently - it would relock again). It doesn't do this now, and I can't find a setting for it in VAG-COM. For now I've turned on the alarm beep so if I was to unlock it by accident, at least I would know about it. :)

Hmmm....scratch that. Seems to be locking itself again now. Perhaps it came on with the anti hijack?

Oh well. I must stop playing with VAG-COM before I break something!
