I just noticed that while I can lock my car [octy II] with the internal central locking - near the hand brake - the same switch does not open the locks. Any suggestions?

I presume you mean by pressing the switch again and not the auto locking when removing the key?

On mine, if it auto locks I can open all locks by pressing the button or removing the key. However if I lock the doors myself, before autolocking does, even removing the key won't open the door and I have to press the button. It must be an override as some people won't want the lock to open when they remove the key.

Otherwise you have a fault!

I can use that little switch to open the doors regardless of whether I have keys in the ignition or not....I would say you have a fault.
