... Was randomly cleaning my car earlier and looked at my pretty tatty nearside wingmirror - Bit scratched, some of the black plastic starting to go a little "off". Right! Within 2 minutes (almost) the mirror was off my car. It's currently hanging from my mate's boat. with about 3 coats of primer on it. Have rubbed it down a bit, and ensured it's very clean. Also well masked off the glass. So, the whole mirror unit is going silver, and if it looks OK I'll do the driver's side some other time. (which also is a little tatty following a coming together of mirrors locally)

Was worried you were going to say you got the colour coding bug and colour coded your the mirror of the wing mirror :eek: :eek:

Have given it the first coat of paint. It's covering the old (primed) paint quite well, and the black plastic is definitely taking it well. Will probably be 2 more, then loads of lacquer.

Get the rocker cover sorted?

did you snap the screws when you took the mirror off ?

I knew there'd be a screw joke in there somewhere.

But no - as it's only a single 45 torx bolt that does it. Had to take the doorcard off though to unplug the wiring to it, which was a bit of a pain. I unfortunately ran out of lacquer a little earlier than I would have liked, so have refitted the mirror in it's "fairly" lacquered state, and in the process did put a mark in the paint. :( Too soft still.

I will attack this again with fresh paint, and a lot more time to let the layers dry. I don't have "donor" wingmirrors that I can take my time on sadly....

put your hands above your head and step away from the silver spray paint.

Jason start buying your paint "by the gallon" it's gotta work out cheaper and the possibilities are endless:thumbup:
