Checking In- Potential Skoda Owner

Featured Replies

Hello,

Just checking in. I'm looking for a new car and the Octavia is one of the models on my list. I had a 3 hour test drive in a 2.0Tdi last weekend and both my wife and I were impressed. It has made it to the short list. I will be taking a good look here to get an idea of how other people are getting on with the Octavia.

Cheers,

Bob

Hi and welcome Bob

You won't find a friendlier or more helpfull forum and the Octavia isn't bad either :)

Welcome to Briskoda

Hiya.

What else is on your list?

Thanks for the very warm welcome, it is much appreciated.:)

Ok, what else is on my list? I am looking at the following, listed in no particular order:-

Ford Focus

Kia Ceed

VW Golf

Honda Civic

Vauxhall Meriva

Nissan Qashqai

I've had a proper test drive in the Octavia (both my wife and I were very impressed), just finished a 3 day test drive in a Kia Ceed (a very good car, with the only drawback of a choppy ride on uneven surfaces) and had about 15 minutes in the Civic, Focus, Golf and Meriva. Haven't driven the Nissan yet. I want to have proper drives in all the others to assess them properly, especially in respect of the driving position since I am 6'3". I think the Civic might be ruled out after a longer test drive as it is not as roomy in the front as the others listed.

Cars I ruled out without a test drive were:-

Audi A3 Sportback (very poor room in the back seat)

Toyota Auris (not enough room in the front for me)

BMW 1 series (poor rear seat room)

Mazda 3 (rear seat room again)

It's good to have such a wide choice to start with though.:)

Buy the Octy, the 2.0 tdi is lovely and it just gets better the more you use it, the 2.0 DSG combo is nice too.

Thanks for the very warm welcome, it is much appreciated.:)

Well , I wouldn't buy another Octavia but plenty of people seem happy with them.

Of the ones on your list the Focus is a good car , especially considering some of the discounts you can get.

I've not driven the Kia but wouldn't mind a nose.

A Golf is just a small , more expensive Octavia so that's a non-starter for me.

I really like the Civic and wish I'd bought one.

Meriva?

Dear god no!

The Qashquai is high on my list of choices for the next one - I think it's a very nice looking car and well specced.

As for your rejects - I'd agree for all the reasons you say
