White smoke loss of power from 4x4

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,

I am new to this forum, kindly forgive me if I ask basic questions. I bought a skoda Octavia 4x4 1.9 TDI 06 reg car 2 months ago and it was running perfectly fine untill last week.

Suddenly I've been having loss of power, white smoke out of the back etc. RAC came over and told me there is a problem with my turbo so I have booked to be checked by Motorline skoda in Dartford since I live there.

Kindly let me know has anybody had their car looked after by motorline skoda any experience?

What should be changed so that this problem does not happen again?

anyinput will be much appreciated in this matter.

Thanks in advance

I'm sure a search will reveal that this has happened to a few other members on here too.

The white smoke is a tell tale sign that it is turbo related. As your running an 06 plate you should have no issues getting it sorted under warranty though.

I hope it gets sorted.

Welcome to Briskoda BTW :wavey:

Is it obviously turbo? I was thinking head gasket, white smoke? Is that not coolant?

Unless, I've missed something and the TDI's have water cooled turbos...

I was thinking head gasket too! usually blue ish smoke from turbo!

Hi,

I left the car in the garage will let you know regarding the progress.

Skoda assistance gave me a car and they said I have to return it in 2 days If I want to keep it more than 2 days they will charge me.

I still can't understand this my car is within warranty and I am not getting a car from skoda assistance for a longer period.

They have given me a courtesy which they are charging

It depends on how much oil the engine's burning, trust me. I have seen several turbo engines burning so much oil through the turbo bearings that visibility behind them was reduced to walking pace. The smoke was white.

Thats a dam shame pal:eek: but they are normally a very strong and reliable engine as used in the golf tdi polo/passat's ect! i would'nt loose faith in it just yet as i have known these engines to run 250k without problems! wont cost you as its under warranty and will have a nice new engine & turbo to look forward too:thumbup:
