No longer 13 month MOT?

Featured Replies

I've just had the wifes car MOT'd. The current MOT runs out on the 3rd of oct this year so I took it in a month early in case there were any problems.

The car passed but the new test runs out on the 3rd sept 2008.

I thought the new test would be for 12 month after the current one expires. That is certainley how it used to be. Have the rules changed?

When I got mine done (around the end of March) they added the remaining time on to the new cert. even though I had forgotten to take the old one in. When I asked, they said that as it was on the new online register then they could see when it ran out & give the new cert the same expiry date the next year.

Note, the garage was one I use every year, although it was the first time they had tested this car.

.

i thought it would of had the extra month added on the time , especially as its all on the computer database now

maybe an MOT tester on here will be the best to answer the question

I'd question that one too. The existence of the electronic system should now mean they're more sure of when you last had it MOT'd, so you should get that 'extra' month.

Just had mine done on Friday before last, got the extra time added on (it was about 2 weeks but the principle should be the same).

As an MOT tester the time should have been added, in fact i dont know how they could of inputted the date unless they had registered the wrong vehicle details:(

Yep , mine had extra time added to the MOT without showing the certificate this year , as it was the first time I had renewed with a new 'computerised' Certificate. Are the details of your car correct on the MOT? Reg no. and Chassis no.?

Found out what the problem was.I had taken the car in on the 3rd of sept when the mOT ran out on the 3rd oct so I was 1 day early.

It is exactly the same as been 6 month early so the computer adds only 1 year from the date of the test. 1 day later and I would have got 13 month grrrrrr

If this happens the computer flags up a warning........ Did you leave a contact number? We always contact the customer and let them make the decision to have the test done or rebook
