window and door trouble

Featured Replies

First of, hello.

Ive just got myself a 2003 octavia vrs and i am very pleased with its performance and economy!!!

However, my n/s/f window started to go up and down all by itself even with key out of ignition! it got worse then all of a sudden my remote would not work! so i dissconected the regulators motor and module to stop that going up and down! so, now the remote works on and off but will only unlock the rear doors and boot, the passenger front door i can only assume will not work because i unplugged the multi plug and drivers door will only work manually. also all the other windows seem to be intermitent at working! i gave the o/s/f control unit a smack and some use of the electrics came back, its really bizzare! i have not really explained to well so sorry for that but was wondering if anyone had any ideas? could the o/s/f switch unit be at fault? i work for a ford dealer as a parts tech so have had some colleagues take a look but its always better from people who know the product.

sorry for long post!!

thanks in advance

robster

I believe theres a connector block in the drivers door which is prone to getting wet and causing an all manner of weird and wonderful things.

ok, ill take a look at that at work tomorrow! Thanks! i hope thats the prob

Might be worth unclipping that and spraying some contact cleaner inside. Sometimes the pins corrode.

hi had the same problem with my Fabia vrs 53 plate, the drivers window suddenly started to lower and raise also the central locking started to lock/unlock continuouly. Took the drivers door panel off left the car garaged overnight "with a view of going to the dealership in the morning" and hey presto!! it cured it self. never had the problem again, now have a Special edition "with a stutter"
