Flushing cooling system

Featured Replies

Hi,

Any recommendation on when best to flush the cooling system especially on a high mileage engine,or is it when the coolant becomes contaminated.

Thanks

Flush the cooling system when the coolant renewal has been neglected and when the recommended coolant hasn't been used. If you have an older high milage car and you're unsure of its service history, then do a flush - remember to flush the radiator and engine separately.

G12+ the red or purple antifreeze has no change interval.

You can use a flush if the cooling system has been contaminated with oil, VAG sell a very good flush for this.

Thanks guys

If its nice and pink, then I wouldn't bother tbh. My Passat has done 125k now, and theres no coolant change in the service history, yet it looks as nice as it did on my old fabia vRS.

It will however be replaced when I do the cambelt and waterpump later this month. :)
