Intermittent AC problem [VRS]

Featured Replies

Chaps,

I'm hoping somebody can help or advise me with the following issue...

Just recently the AC has only started to work every now and then (or when the damn car feels like it :thumbdwn:). I know when it's working fine as I can open the vents - even with the AC turned off - and I feel nice cool air (I'm sure I read the AC compressor is always working, even when switched off or something:confused:). Anyways, when it's not working it's just warm air, and switching the AC on does nothing. There isn't some sort of minimum time from start up till when it starts operating is there? Strange thing is it'll work fine the next day.

OK, so assuming that it isn't a trivial fix, the car is still under warranty (till end of Oct). Are AC issues covered under the warranty? I was thinking it could be a re-gassing issue, but the car's not yet 3 years old - bit poor if it is. I have transfered the warranty over from the previous owner, and received some info from Skoda, but I expected a "in case of any issues, you're local dealer is..." info... but there wasn't. For warranty issues presumably I need to make the dealer aware that I think it's a warranty problem?!? This is the first car I've owned that has still been in warranty:)

So any advice, muchos gracias guys!

Matt.

Worth getting the fault codes read off as some of the air con sensors are a bit temperamental and prone to failing...........
