Washing machine?

Featured Replies

Hello all! Top site with bundles of useful info

l bought a 2000 W reg 1.4 Fabia 8v about 6 months ago and have been nothing but impressed with it since.

However, whilst driving down the motorway the other day, l noticed that as l accelerated past 40mph, a whirring noise similar to that of a washing machine on spin cycle was coming from the mid engine, possibly above the front axle.

Other than the noise, the car still accelerates fine and there's been no fall off in consumption etc. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the cause may be?

Cheers

so what colour is your car?

Welcome DB... Sounds like maybe your alternator bearings are on the way out or something of that nature ...

Edit #1: or maybe a slipping belt

Cheers Nick, have got it booked in at the local dealer so will see what they come up with  Hopefully not too costly!

As for the colour, l prefer to think of it as an interesting take on Royal Navy (as me Gran used to call it) :D

Nothing gay about me, apart from (arguably) my choice of vehicle...

I hope my old CD player escaped unscathed... It survived a full on crash, so I hope it didn't just take a "Paul"ing to knacker it. :P

I hope my old CD player escaped unscathed...

Remarkably so, despite having spent a week playing the likes of Kylie&Jason and Lady In Red...or Paul's seduction music, as it's also known...
