I would say it's because you've bought a Sharkfin that doesn't have VAG compatible connectors. You either need to look for a patch lead or buy another Sharkfin.

Whoops!!

The reception is crap from them anyway I've heard.

i think it is going to be to much hassle trying to fit the shark fin i bought but i done some searching on this site and came across this vag shark fin.

this will be pretty much a straight swap or maybe one of the connectors might need changing which you must be able to buy surely the reception from a shark fin cant be that bad as the original whip aerial is pretty poor to start with!

I think it depends on what connectors you have fitted to you car.

PM superted as he is an antenna man, he can help you with the connectors etc.

The red wire is the power supply, as obviously it's an amplified antenna or it wouldn't pick up anything being so small.

And you should be able to get an adaptor from anywhere that sells car audio stuff for the antenna lead.
