Intermittent ticking noise from passenger side

Featured Replies

Hi folks. I wonder if anyone of you had this problem like myself. My Fabia is 2 weeks old. While driving, I hear a very annoying intermittent ticking sound inside the cabin coming from the passenger side. It sounds like something is loose and makes the noise when the car in negotiating an undulating road. Any suggestions what I could check out please because so far I haven't figured out what it could be. Thank you.

Brand new Fabia? As in Fabia 2?

If so wrong section.

Sounds like a recirc flap motor possibly.

Not a ticking, more a tutting.

It usually happens when I drive a tad quicker than the passenger feels is appropriate :)

No it's the Fabia 1.

Well I'm still on running-in so I'm not driving beyond 60-80Km/h so I don't think it's related to speed. Besides, the noise occurs even at low speeds.

No it's a Fabia 1. Where would this motor be located please? Can I rectify it myself or do you suggest I take it to the dealer? Thank you.

take it to the dealers for them to investigate further , its under warranty after all

If it is a very quiet ticking sound it could be the ABS pump because that 'ticking' always comes from the passanger side when you are driving keenly?

I Know this may sound crazy, but it could be one of those plastic dealer stick on window tax disc pockets, If you have got one, then get someone to hold it against the screen to see if the ticking stops.mine does on an intermittent basis and it is very annoying, I just need to get shot of it.

The funny thing is that the noise does not occur when driving on a bumpy road. It sounds like its coming from the side panel where the passenger seat belt is mounted. Was thinking about dismantling the side panel to take a look.

hi mate, had the same thing on mine and found it last night! try wiggling the seat release catch (the one to put the seats down) on the passenger side. it makes that same ticking noise! i gave mine a persuasive push good bash and its sorted! :)

Do you mean the lever that allows you to move the seat back and front?

Thank you for your patience.

yeah thats the one, a small catch on the top of the seat next to the headrest which allows you to push the seat back and forth:thumbup:

Ah but those are the rear seats. My annoying noise is coming from the front. I suspect it is related to the front passenger's seatbelt system - possibly behind the panel. Any other suggestions anyone please?

does it only happen when someone is in the passenger seat? i had that one too, sounds a bit like a cd case or something rattling. i moved seat back 1 notch and it sorted it

The noise occurs whether there is a passenger sitting in the seat or not. The noise seems to come from behind the panel housing the passenger side seat belt system. I'm tempted to open it up to have a look.
